Find Balance
Unfortunately, job stress can interfere with the depth of meaning a person experiences from their personal life. When some of the important elements of your life, like relationships with loved ones and taking time to recharge your batteries, are consistently neglected, it’s easy to lose sight of how essential they are.
At first when this happens, your life becomes more focused. You see your work (or whatever you are exclusively spending your time on) more clearly. You realize the problem eventually when you are stressed out and no way to relax or want to do something fun and you can’t remember how to have fun or don’t know who to have fun with.
It might be helpful for you to evaluate your current life balance when:
- You can’t remember the last time you had fun or took a vacation when you didn’t spend half the time working.
- You are having health problems that you didn’t see coming.
- Your intimate friends have stopped trying to get you to spend time with them or you realize you don’t have any intimate friends that you spend time with on a regular basis.
- You can never finish your list of Things To Do.
- When you don’t have a list of Things To Do you feel lost.
- You are lonely.
- When you’re in a social situation, you can’t seem to talk about anything but work or related topics.
- You can’t remember how to relax without alcohol or medication.
